How To Pin a Chat On WhatsApp

The truth is WhatsApp keeps getting better by the day. The latest feature to grace the world's most popular IM app is the addition of features that allows you Pin up to 3 chats to the top just as we have in some online forums.

The ability to Pin chats on whatsapp will be a great aspect of the social app especially for those of us that have numerous number of conversations from so many people. Things can get clustered thereby making it a bit hard or time consuming to search for your favorite chats but with this latest update, you can simply Pin your favorite chats at the top.

However, this new feature is only available on the WhatsApp beta version 2.17.162 (and now 163). In other words, you won't be able to access it on the regular whatsapp application as of the time of writing this post except you are using WhatsApp Beta.

HOW TO PIN A CHAT
✔️ Download latest WhatsApp beta 2.17.163
✔️ Install it on your Android device and run it
✔️ Tap and hold on any chat and you’ll get a new pin icon in the action bar next to the delete, mute, and archive functions.

For now, only 3 chats can be pin after which get a small toast notification message saying you can't pin more.

We hope it becomes available on the regular app sooner than expected.

Airtel 4G LTE Network In Nigeria, Latest Rollout Update

Airtel's altitude towards 4G LTE services in Nigeria is a real description of the popular saying "the first shall be the last. This is because, Airtel was the first network provider in Nigeria to test-run 4G network in the country way back in 2012 but so far, they have been sleeping and allowed their rivals MTN, Etisalat and even Glo to launch 4G.

Well, latest information have it that Airtel 4G LTE Network is now been rolled out in Nigeria and this will be in partnership with ZTE, a Chinese multinational telecommunications equipment/systems company. In other words, ZTE will build their 4G LTE network in Nigeria. But no date for official launch has been fixed as at the time of this publication.

The Managing Director, Airtel Nigeria, Mr Segun Ogunsanya, said on Saturday that the telecommunications company has rolled out Fourth Generation (4G) wireless mobile telecommunications technology in Nigeria.

Ogunsanya said in a statement in Lagos that the roll out of the technology was in partnership with ZTE, a Chinese multinational telecommunications equipment/systems company.

He said that in December, 2012, Airtel was the first telecommunications operator in the country to complete a successful 4G trial in Lagos.

According to him, this is in line with the company’s commitment to pioneer innovation and lead a mobile internet revolution in Nigeria.
“This is a new dawn for mobile internet in Nigeria.

“Airtel and ZTE’s collaboration to roll out 4G service plan in Nigeria will dramatically improve mobile internet experience for telecommunications consumers across the country.

“Indeed, Airtel is committed to strengthening its position as a true pioneer of innovation in the Nigerian telecommunications domain.

“This is in line with our overall corporate vision of becoming the mobile Internet service provider of first choice for every Nigerian,” he said.

Regional Vice President of ZTE Corporation, Mr Zhang Ruigang, said that ZTE would cooperate with Airtel Nigeria to build the first-class 4G LTE network and provide the best long term service to Airtel Nigeria.

“4G LTE is a truly global mobile phone standard for advanced mobile broadband.

You Now Get Free Access To The Internet With The Etisalat Free Basics From Facebook

The free basics which was introduced by Facebook in  Nigeria starting its operations with Airtel is now also on Etisalat. With free basics you can chat on messenger for free, visit some popular website for free in Nigeria though with some restrictions like the inability to stream videos and view pictures using the Free basics.

The development is a welcome development especially on the Etisalat network, making it the second network in Nigeria to unveil the free basics. Some websites that can be visited are nairaland.com, super sports, jobber man, facebook, messenger etc. you can visit 0.freebasics.com to see for yourself.

Although I don’t really cherish this because the inability to view pictures on Facebook is somewhat dry. Though we can agree with the restriction on videos. Well, it live and it could be of help at any time.

Airtel 6 GB for N 1500 is Actually 3 GB on Android

Recently, Airtel officially unveiled the "6gb for N 1500" data plan usable on all devices and even PC. Being a long time user of Airtel services, I knew that boldly calling it a “BB Plan” involves some terms of services which Airtel is notorious for.

Let’s see some of the fact about this Airtel 6 GB for N1500 BB plan and why I would still go ahead and subscribe to it.

1. Eligibility

It is true that Airtel stated very clearly that the package is for "special privileged" meaning that it won't be available for many airtel customers to enjoy BUT the fact is that 80% of airtel lines are eligible for it.

To be very sure before you buy the credit, dial *440*161# and if you get the “insufficient Balance” message, it means you are in otherwise, stick to the Android Plan.

2. It's a Blackberry Plan

This is where most people get it all wrong.  Airtel said it's a 1+1 blackberry planBUT you can use it on any other device including PC.
airtel-bb-1+1-plan

However, the real reason for that message is that since it is a Blackberry plan, experience and charging (which include double charging) might occur in Android and other non-BB devices

3. Data Zapping

Like I said, this is a BB plan so data zapping must occur in other devices; this is the major reason why many people are skeptical about this plan because Airtel has been known for "data zapping".

However, this is a way out to maximize your 6 GB data bundle.

1. Use it only for normal browsing.
2. Never download with this plan, normal browsing does not zap data but downloads does.
3. If you want to download, queue it up during the day and subscribe to the night plan at N25 to download your files.

4. Unlimited Data

According to activation SMS from airtel, they said the plan is an "Unlimited" plan, the unlimited is for BB devices only as it utilize its legendary compression technology to maximize data usage but for Android, you get capped at 6GB

5. IMEI Tweaking

You do not need to change your phone IMEI to that of a blackberry device before you can use this Airtel 6 GB for N1500 BB plan, just subscribe and you are good to go.

6. Speed Throttling

There is no throttled speed while browsing with this plan. It works like a normal Android data plan with good speed.

How To Subscribe For Airtel 6GB For N1500 Plan

- Confirm first if you are eligible for the Airtel 6GB For N1500 BB Plan

- If you get the “insufficient Balance” message, go ahead to the next step

- Recharge your airtel SIM with N1500 and dial *440*161# and you will receive confirmation SMS about the successful activation of the plan which valid for 30 days.

How To Check Airtel Blackberry Plan Data Balance

To check your Airtel data balance, dial *140# and you will get reply via SMS

Instagram Has Decided To Become Snapchat With Their New Feature “Stories”

Well, Instagram has announced a feature that (obviously) was inspired by Snapchat’s Stories and they went ahead to shamelessly call it Stories.

The company describes Stories as a “new feature that lets you share all the moments of your day, not just the ones you want to keep on your profile.” Basically what Instagram is aiming here is letting you share multiple photos and videos on your Instagram page and they will appear as a montage/slideshow as a story. Just like Snapchat.

Also just like Snapchat, these Instagram Stories will disappear after 24 hours and you will be able to edit these stories further by adding text captions or drawing stuff on them. You will be able to see stories from the people you follow in a bar at the top of your feed or if you want to view someone’s story, you only need to tap on their profile photo. If the person adds a new story on their profile there will be a colourful ring around it.

Basic gestures are used in viewing this stories. You only need to swipe to jump into another person’s story and tap to go back and forward. Also just like Snapchat, when you want to comment on something you saw on a person’s Instagram Story, you only need to tap and send a private message on Instagram Direct.

Instagram also gave information about how to control the audience of your Stories where you can set them to be only seen by your followers or only by you which is great. Interestingly, when you view your own story, you only need to swipe up to see who saw each photo or video in your story and you can go ahead and post it on your profile.

Well, this feature will be rolled out globally to iOS and Android in the next few weeks according to the company and it ushers the Snapchat-irization of Instagram (if there is such a word).
