7 Awesome Tips for Entrepreneurs to Create an Inspiring Vision Board

creating a vision board

Vision boards are one of the most powerful success tools that can do wonders to inspire and motivate you, and put you in the right frame of mind. Whether you use them for your business or personal life, creating and using a vision board also adds a bit of fun to your routine, while activating the Law of Attraction and drawing your wants and desires into your life!

If you’re ready to get started, here are 7 tips that you’ll find helpful in creating an inspiring vision board.

1. Be Clear About Its Use

Your vision board is going to be a visualization tool, carrying images and words that will drive you to achieve your goals and fulfill your dreams. As such, don’t move forward with your vision board thinking of it as a wish list or a to-do list.
Note that there are different types of vision boards. If you’re very clear about what you want or you want something specific to happen in your business, you can create an ‘I know exactly what I want’ board. An ‘Allowing’ vision board is for visions and goals that you’re not quite sure about, or if you know that circumstantial changes are to be expected. If you’re working on a particular aspect of your life or are focusing on a specific business goal, a ‘Theme’ vision board will be right for you.

2. Get the Pre-Work Going

Yes, there’s pre-work to be done before you begin creating your vision board! Start with assessing what you’ve desired for your business and personal life over the past 6-12 months. Think of areas like branding, sales, or public speaking, and list goals and intentions in each category that you want to bring change or grow in over time.
Remember to set aside ample amount of time for this activity. You can’t list desires or goals while you’re rushing your lunch or in-between meetings! Sit where you can get some peace and quiet, meditate for a while, and ask yourself what it is that you truly want.
Let visuals and emotions flow freely through your mind, and let this process make for a deeper, meaningful experience. You might want to play some soft, soothing music as you dwell on what’s important to you!
“The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt

3. Narrow Down

Business goals, and quite a few personal goals, can be long-term, requiring you to put in time and effort. By having too many such goals on your mind, you might get overwhelmed easily. Instead, think in terms of baby steps and break down your goals into simpler, manageable steps.
An easy way to do this is to create action plans outlining individual tasks. Make sure you have clearly defined actions so it’s easier to make progress. You can also consider creating time-based milestones.
As an example, if your goals include making more money or expanding your business, don’t just add ‘Make More Money’ or ‘Expand Business’ to your list. Perhaps you need to focus on sales or new product releases to increase revenue that you can further use to support business expansion!

4. Gather Representational Images

Flip through your favorite magazines and see if the images catch your eye. You can also browse images online and download and print the ones you like. A word of advice: Don’t let your perfectionism get in the way and compel you to continue your quest for ideal images! This way, you’ll never find what you’re looking for and you could end up not completing the exercise.
Most importantly, don’t think when choosing images, but feel. This will keep you from perceiving images in a conventional way! In addition to this, don’t stop yourself from picking images that aren’t connected to each other rationally; it’s fine to put up whatever resonates with you on your vision board. Do pick a handful of motivational affirmation words too.

5. Arrange Right

Have a theme and format in mind for your vision board. You can look for inspiration online, but follow your heart if you want to do something original! You might want to accessorize your board with colorful paper, stickers, and more. Keep in mind that all colors impact us differently, so if you’re looking to create a board that gives off calm, pleasing vibes, a red-themed board won’t serve the purpose.
Another thing to be mindful of is that having too many pictures on a single vision board can prevent you from focusing on your goals. To avoid clutter, only choose pictures that inspire you the most. Alternatively, consider creating two vision boards.

6. Put It to Use

No matter how inspiring your vision board is, it will fail to inspire you if you put it up in an obscure place like behind a door or in the cupboard. So put your board up where you can see it every day. This doesn’t mean it’s okay to put it up near a toilet though! Think of a place where you can stand or sit for a while each day and get positive vibes as you view your vision board.
The way you view your vision board also matters! Simply glancing at it won’t produce the results you want, so commit to studying the contents of your vision board for at least 5 minutes, once a day. Read quotes and affirmations that you’ve put up aloud and with conviction. Be careful of resorting to daydreaming; you want to visualize how you’ll work to attain your goals, not just envision your life after you achieve all that you want.
“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” – Colin Powell

7. Redo the Board as Needed

You don’t have to stick with the same vision board arrangement for the whole year! There are bound to be changes in your life, so feel free to re-arrange images and affirmation words to reflect the same. Do leave some blank space so you can add new goals as they come along.
Bear in mind that you shouldn’t feel pressurized to have a new arrangement for every month of the year. A vision board only needs to be redone in the event of major changes that affect your outlook and focus.
Don’t let doubts creep in. Every time you look at your vision board, take a deep breath, smile, and tell yourself that you’re closer to achieving your dreams. So get started on creating your inspiring vision board, and let it fire you up to turn your dreams into reality!

How to Deal with Haters: 5 Bulletproof Tools

Learning how to deal with haters might be one of the best lessons you will ever obtain. That is because everyone significant will have haters at one point in their lives. The only people without haters are the ones doing nothing. When people think they can’t achieve something they want to make you believe you cannot achieve it too. If you step out and try to prove them wrong, they will also step out and try to prove you wrong for proving them wrong.  These are the people pouring hate speech on your Twitter, Amazon reviews and smearing sly comments on your blogs. They are called haters.  In order to succeed you need to learn how to deal with haters, because the are an inevitable part of life.
I understand what you are going through because I have been there too. You start a  non-profit organization and give all you have, only to find out there are people who believe you are the one becoming wealthy in the process. You publish a book, and though everyone is giving it raving reviews, you are surprised by this one person who claims to have understood precisely nothing of your work. Some people cannot understand running a business is metaphorically as painful and tiring as its physical equivalent. Instead, they proclaim that you are greedy because you are not giving them a piece of the profit. Isn’t it funny how they think they deserve to share in your profits without sharing in your labors?
If only there was a way to make everyone understand that you don’t mean the world any harm; like Steve Jobs said, all you are trying to do is “to put a dent in the universe.”
Negativity is parasite that eats you from the inside out, and it takes a great deal of time and patience to learn how to deal with haters.  At first it may seem difficult if you are not taught correctly. However, in life you can’t decide who offends you, but you can decide how to respond when you are offended. The greater part of dealing with haters involves dealing with your own self. In this article I will tell  you how to soar on the winds of haters. There is no motion without friction and there is no friction without applied effort. Therefore in adversity smile, because friction is a sign that you applied effort and a sign that you are going somewhere!

How to deal with haters in five easy steps…

1. Ignore Haters

Haters are egoistic people. I guarantee the reasoning behind their aggressive behavior towards you on social media and IRL (in real life)  has nothing to do with you.  Their main goal is to attract attention to themselves. You are being noticed, therefore they want to be noticed too. This is why the best solution is to ignore them.
If you want to grow someone’s ego give them attention, and if you want to destroy it simply ignore them. That will teach them if they want to boost their ego, you are not the best person to turn to. Attention is too precious a resource to be paid to everyone. Are you aware of the twenty four hour rule? The rules states that whatever issue you ignore for twenty four hours starts to decay. That is why even Facebook has incorporated an information decay algorithm – information gains popularity by being given attention and decays by being ignored. You can best shrink hate speech by ignoring it. People like following dialogues, but if you ignore your hater’s speech it remains a boring monologue that nobody bothers to reflect upon.  Don’t frown, smile or cry about it – just live on like it never existed.

2. Feel Important

Nobody hates a nobody. Nobody hates a dead man. If you have a hater it shows you are somebody – it shows you are alive. Ironically,  hate can help make you feel important. You can’t stand up for something without standing up to someone. However, t is precisely standing up to someone that creates your haters. You can’t win at something without out beating someone, and in return, it is beating someone that creates your haters. So if you have haters then throw yourself a celebration party, because haters are a sign that you have stood up to someone and won at something. Haters are a luxury only of the great.
One of the reasons I studied Psychology at university was because I wanted to understand why people behave the way they they do. I realized you can tolerate practically any behavior, good or bad, if you understand why it occurred. When you understand the psychology of envy you stop fearing haters and start anticipating them. When you understand why people hate, every hate word meant to make you mad will make you feel proud of yourself.
Most times the people who dislike you the most are those that envy you the most. They dislike you because you represent something that they feel they don’t have. You succeeded in area that they failed at. You may even hear some of them openly say “If I had that your luck I would use it for a better purpose.” These words suggest your haters credits your success to luck, because they are envious of your abilities. So next time they throw hate speech at you remember to feel important. “

3. Keep Your Advisors Close

Haters think they know the way to success, though all they do is talk without ever sulking in it. If you take their words to heart, you might delude yourself into fulfilling insignificant roles that have nothing to do with your dreams. Know that anyone can be your critic, but not everyone can be your advisor.
Advisors asks you questions but enemies question you. Identify people who have succeeded in your field and only appoint those as your advisors. Sometimes they can only be a few as three individuals.  Also, keep in mind that criticism is not the same as counsel. The appointed advisors in your life will help you weed out the constructive criticism from the pure hate.

4. Maintain Focus

Ask any F1 racing champion and they will tell you your car goes wheresoever your eyes go. Focus on the road and you will stay on the road, but if you focus on the wall you will run into the wall. Remember, you never wrote that book/launched that product/composed that song for your haters. They were not the reason you got started so don’t make them the reason you stop.
The only people who have the energy to be commentators are the ones watching the game – not playing it. You can’t focus on the noise and the game at the same time. In fact, if you score, the boos will only grow louder. Instead choose your battles wisely because time and energy are always limited. By spending your energy fighting haters you might find you don’t have the energy to build your dreams or fulfill your goals. To be a fighter is different from being a builder.

5. Twist the Tweet – The Best Way to Fight Back

Hurting people creates a chain reaction consisting of pain. If a hater tweets at you you that they wish upon a serious disease such as cancer the best to do is to ignore them. If you chose to take them seriously your bitterness will surely grow into an emotional or even physical cancer of some sort. Understand that no-one can give you the pain that they don’t have. In response, give them the joy and gentleness that you do have.
In regards to the cancer comment mentioned earlier, the best response to that statement would be:
“I wish you long life full of health and joy!
These are the five steps on how to deal with haters. That’s all for now my friend. I recommend you read the article Believe in Yourself  next, as you will find it very helpful. Otherwise have a great time upstage, because that is where you belong – at least you have fans and haters to prove it. Don’t forget to remind yourself self that  for every one hater may you have a thousand friends!

7 Lessons You Must Learn from Your Mistakes Before You Turn 30

learn from your mistakes

In life you will make a lot of mistakes. And mistakes may not be so bad after all. Mistakes are an essential part of growth. I have had my own share of mistakes. And if I had to look back at my 20s perhaps I would have loved to do things differently. I would have loved to take more risks or fight more battles or have a go at more ventures. Truthfully before you turn 30, you would have enough energy to spare. As you grow older your passion and enthusiasm may begin to wane, but this is always the time to look back and know what you had gotten right or what you had gotten wrong.

Here are 7 lessons that could be life changing, should you learn them before you turn 30.

  1. They won’t teach you everything in school

I have to admit it, school may be overrated. While some may argue this, it is important to know that there are a lot of skills you would acquire outside school that would be beneficial for your long term success. Influencers like Robert Kiyosaki, James Altucher and Grant Cardone have argued the importance of getting a formal education. The truth is that self-education would make you the fortune you desire and not the diploma or the college degree. But this is a lesson you would learn along the way, at least before you turn 30.
  1. It is not about what people think

People’s opinion doesn’t matter. Only your opinion matters.  Most times what you attempt to do may not conform to conventional methods. However you should understand that our goals and aspirations are all unique to whom we are.
If I was to look back now I will focus more on not worrying so much about those things that are out of my control, and people’s opinion is one of them. So according to Gary Vaynerchuck, “learn to focus on your shit.” You would learn that the spotlight was never on you and they were probably consumed in their own problems anyways. So why make a big deal of their expectations of you?
  1. Life is not fair

It really has never been a fair game and will never be. Good things do happen to bad people and bad things do happen to good people.  You may wonder why you have to be the victim many times, but that doesn’t really matter. You have to learn to be responsible for your own actions, and never let what other people influence the goodness in your heart. Sometimes the bad guy will win or the sly guy will take be the one who gets the deal rather than the hero. It is life, sh*t happens. Have a proper mindset though. How you deal with the bad stuff and move on could be what defines your character and make you a person of impact. Always win in your heart.
  1. Failure is good for your learning process

Yes no one likes to fail. When you are younger and in school, it is somehow wired in you that failure is bad. And those who fail come last. But in the real world that is not always how it works. Failing forward and seeing every failure as a learning process propels you for growth. You are better prepared for future aspirations when you have failed. As far as you don’t stay down, but can rise again, you will survive. By the time you turn 30, you would come to understand that failure is not so bad after all. Those who have failed more times are better prepared to handle success.
  1. Money isn’t everything

You are young and could be excited about the freedom money gives you. But money isn’t everything. In business money shouldn’t be what you put foremost. According to Adam Legas founder of Nanodyr8, “We are here to be a river and not a reservoir, so let money become a tool to help you achieve your dreams. Rather than focusing on just money, focus on value.” Think of how you can contribute to your environment. Think of how you can connect with others and solve their problems. Build relationships and cherish those you already have.
  1. Take care of your body

Undoubtedly your body is your vehicle to success. If you take care of your body right, it will take care of you too. Most people when they are young may not comprehend how their body could impact their success. But trust me, your body does it for you. The effect of alcohol on your body is different as you grow older.  It is imperative to take care of your body so you can embrace the success you desire. Exercise. Not because you want to impress anyone or to burn calories, but because you will feel good when you do. You would reduce your stress and improve your mental abilities. Besides a little bit of physical activity for your overall well-being isn’t such a bad idea.
  1. Learn to live with purpose

As we grow older we may have to direct our energy and time appropriately. When we are young we seem to be everywhere. When I was young I seemed to be carrying so much on my shoulder. I was living a life and doing things because I thought I should them. Going to school, getting a job, getting married or having kids seemed the right thing to do. But sometimes we need to have a clearer perspective of those things that we really want or those things that we do need. Saying no to a lot of things is not such a bad idea. And as you grow older you discover that is not about working more or living less but it is about doing those things that essentially made you happy. It is about finding a purpose and living your life along a well defined path.

Conclusion

You shouldn’t be wary of making mistakes. Don’t let the mistakes you make overwhelm. It is essential you do make mistakes. But your focus should be on learning from these mistakes. The mistakes you made when you were 20 shouldn’t be the same mistakes you make when you are 30. Taking those big steps in your career, business and life may require guts and doing what is necessary. The mistakes you have made in the past serves as a compass to making the right choices.
If I were to look back, do I regret the mistakes I made? No. It served as the ideal lesson or tutelage for me to achieve success and embrace the goals or aspirations I set out to accomplish. Yes please do have a journal. The age 30 is pivotal to your career growth and how far you will go. So you should be able to realize those things that didn’t work out right for you in the past and use this knowledge in setting future goals.
Life should be lived. Believe in yourself. Understand that the master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried. Making those mistakes isn’t so bad after all if you are willing to push on to greater heights with consistency, determination and resilience. Good luck to you as you journey to the top.

3 Steps to Increasing Your Confidence for Good

confidence

As an ambitious person on the road to success, you know first hand how challenging it is to achieve your lofty goals. Let’s be honest, the road to success is littered with potholes and unexpected curves.
You need a consistent feeling of confidence if you want to make it to the finish line and rise victoriously. That’s why in this article, you’re going to learn the most simple and effective 3-step sequence to help you increase your confidence for good.

1. Learn One Thing

As an informed reader here, we’re skipping past the part where we harp on the importance of taking action for building confidence. You already took action by reading this article with the desire to get better. Perhaps, you made the sales call, pressed publish on your new post, did the interview, or pitched your idea.
But now it’s time to immediately learn one thing from the action you just took. The second after you take action, ask yourself, “What’s the one thing I can learn from this, to ensure I get a better result next time?”
If you’ve read Gary Keller’s powerful book, The One Thing, you know success isn’t about trying to do a million things. It’s about doing one thing — exceptionally. Similarly, instead of trying to derive 86 lessons from that sales call you just finished, start learning simply the number one best thing you can.
Here in step one, you do so by asking yourself the aforementioned question. It works like magic. When you ask yourself a question, your brain outputs an answer. This only happens if you start this sequence immediately after you take action — regardless of the result.
“Extraordinary results happen only when you give the best you have to become the best you can be at your most important work.” – Gary Keller

2. Validate Yourself

In step two, take the time to validate yourself with positive self talk. Tell yourself, “Nice job. That took courage. Let’s keep going, baby. I’m going to do this. I’ve got this.” The key here is to speak to yourself positively and authentically. Speak to yourself the way a great mentor, coach, or friend would. Remember too, in this step, you are not pumping yourself up with empty affirmations or false hope.
You are validating yourself because you took action and you learned from that action. This deserves credit. By practicing the act of self validation here in step two, you train yourself to remain confident regardless of whether or not you achieved or came up short.
Validate yourself whether you land the client or fail to do so. Most don’t do this, it’s why they lack confidence. But you? You act, learn, then validate yourself, regardless of the external result. This trains you to feel good about yourself no matter what people say about you.
While most people crumble when they don’t get the results they desired, you feel confident even when you lose this battle. You know that the campaign is long, and, if you keep learning, you’ll get accomplish the goals you desire in the end.

3. Repeat the Action

“Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, don’t sit home and think about it.” Carnegie said it best and it’s why step three is a simple call to action — to repeat the action you just took. By repeating the action as soon as possible, you don’t give yourself time to ruminate or overthink.
In step one, you learned one important, personalized nugget of wisdom that’ll help you perform better from now on. Then in step two, you validated yourself with positive self talk — reminding yourself that by continuing to take persistent action, success is inevitable.
Now? There’s nothing left to say. Without delay, it’s time to get back on the horse and take another crack at it! Your confidence continues to grow as you take more actions, learn more from those actions, and remind yourself that you’re a champ for taking all these actions!
“Don’t let small thinking cut your life down to size. Think big, aim high, act bold. And see just how big you can blow up your life.” – Gary Keller
